I agree. I was talking about the ability to deal with language only the oral way. Like kids. Definitely we have to study how to read and write in order to be a perfect speaker.

You make mistakes as well And when you see somebody make mistakes, it could mean that those are your mistakes. It's almost impossible or really hard to know every rule, every speech pattern, every phrase and how those go together. So when you assume that it's a mistake, it could be the wright expression you just never heard.
Moreover, I never said I am a professional. I am still a student. And I have never lived in english-speaking country.
And as I said above, for me all these "top" charts make no sense. I don't find english and spanish easy at all. German on the other side is easier of both. I suppose that french pronunciation and orthograph are not as hard as considered. And of course japanese is very much learnable even despite all it's complications.

Lucky you are to have occasional business trips out from Sevastopol.Well, I've been there just once for a couple of days, and, well, I liked it, at least the downtown and the Duke area. Can not provide you with some decent advise on whre to go or what to see, unfortunately. Hope you will have little work and big fun there.

Уважаемые форумчане! Вот и мое хобби - английский. Но к великому моему сожалению я не могу нигде его применить. Разве что только на отдыхе за границей. А работаю в банковской сфере. Поделитесь, пожалуйста, как у нас в Севастополе можно совместить эти две профессии? Может кому-то это удается? Хочется, чтобы английский был не только хобби, но и профессией, но не основной (как у переводчиков, преподавателей). Здесь на форуме только преподаватели и переводчики или есть представители других профессий, успешно применяющих иностранный язык?

в Севастополе никак. "Поболтать" пару раз в неделю на курсах - к сожалению единственный вариант применения своих и даже приобретения новых знаний. Можете попробовать переводить какие-либо инструкции, тексты, книги, программы в свободное от основной работы время. Вобщем, ситуация грустная в этом плане, sorry.

KMilia, as far as I know, people successfully using english in tourism works, also as a war interpreters (that's risky and rough I guess), in business sphere like bank's...hmm.. well, there are international communications, many people studying that things in universities and they includes different communication things, probably even concerning banks and many other financial stuff, actually many people need english-knowing people to manage their international relationships with collegues etc.

Three guys die and go to heaven. The first goes up to St. Peter who says, "I have only one question before you go into heaven: Were you faithful to your wife?" Dear Olga! I think you idea very interesting! And i think meetings in the cafe has its merits too. As for me i am very fond of reading and started learning English because of my hobby. I think reading can improve your english or at least your vocabular. In books of modern authors you can find words and phrases that are used in this century, also books can help you understand logics of English-speaking people. If you do not have time for reading, you can listen to audiobooks. (in case you do not understand the book, it can make you fall asleep. Not bad variant.)

Movie's speech is't quite similar to real life (especially XXX ))))
I did learn from my past, it's no better way to improve english than talk to person who's english mother language.
